Cameron Charlebois, architect-trained private developer and former Assistant City Manager for Urban Development, City of Montreal; Martin Wexler, head, policy division, City of Montreal housing department. Double lecture on the games of negotiation between municipal authorities and private developers in the realization of new building projects. The speakers will address different aspects of the issue: the politics of downtown development and the politics of affordable housing production.
Raymond Lessard, President, Groupe Le Versant, a major housing development company in the Montreal region, will address the question of how architects and developers interact over the design of new projects and how financial considerations influence architecture.
Guy Brault, Vice-President (Leasing) for the SITQ, the real-estate investment arm of the province, will discuss the work of the SITQ as a major landlord and player in Montreal's real-estate market and describe contemporary conditions in the office sector.
David J. Wolfson, partner, global corporate group, Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, teacher and author. He has represented and worked with a number of animal protection groups (HSUS, ALDF, Farm Sanctuary, Compassion in World Farming). His latest publication is a chapter in the recent book Animal Rights (Oxford University Press, ed. Cass Sunstein and Martha Nussbaum). Presented by SALDF McGill.
