On January 1, 2006, the government of Quebec will launch its new Quebec Parental Insurance Plan (QPIP), which will replace maternity and parental benefits paid under the federal Employment Insurance Program. The QPIP will provide higher benefits and broader coverage for Quebec employees and self-employed workers.
The library catalogue and auto loan service will not be available beginning at 10 pm on Sunday night, January 15, due to necessary maintenance work. We hope to have the catalogue up again before 2 am, Monday, January 16.

In collaboration with Recyc-Québec, McGill is launching a campaign to promote recycling on both campuses this semester. The program, aimed at sensitizing the McGill community about all types of recycling and proper practices, will target all faculties and departments, staff and students. We need your help to conduct promotional work for this project. All interested in becoming recycling ambassadors for this WAR ON WASTE are encouraged to reply to everyone.recycle[at]gmail.com with name, contact info and copy of class schedule as soon as possible. Students and educators are encouraged to participate; nominal remuneration for your efforts funded by Recyc-Québec's VERRR2008 program.
The Library Catalogue will not be available for searching late Saturday night to early Sunday morning, January 21-22, due to needed maintenance work. The catalogue will be unavailable from 23:00 to 07:00 EST. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.
McGill Library's central interlibrary loan service (ILL), located in the McLennan Library Building (M1-55c), will be closed on January 30 & 31, due to training of staff in preparation for a new ILL system being implemented at all Quebec university libraries. We apologize for this brief disruption and hope that the new system will bring improved service to McGill clients.
The Education Library was forced to close today due to an emergency water shutdown. The Library is expected to reopen tomorrow for regular opening hours.
