Transfer of International Relations Division to Provost's Office Purview

On April 21, 2016, Principal Suzanne Fortier announced that the International Relations division of the Office of the Vice-Principal of Research and International Relations will be transitioning to the purview of the Office of the Provost. The following is an excerpt of the memo that Principal Fortier addressed to the McGill University Senate.

On May 1st, ECE professors François Bouffard and Michael Rabbat were each appointed as William Dawson Scholars at McGill. At the same time, Prof. Zetian Mi was reappointed as a William Dawson Scholar for a second five-year term.

Karl Moore is an associate professor at the Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University, and an associate fellow at Green Templeton College, Oxford University. He is a long-time observer of the aviation industry and Bombardier.

Last week was big for Bombardier and the C Series, with a major order from Delta Air Lines. The question now is whether the federal government should financially support the company.

ESCRIME. Joseph Polossifakis rêvait depuis 14 ans à une participation aux Jeux olympiques. Son souhait deviendra réalité cet été à Rio.

Le sabreur a mérité sa qualification olympique en obtenant récemment une 39e place au Grand Prix de Séoul, en Corée du Sud.

Au tableau des 64, Joseph Polossifakis avait cependant baissé pavillon 15-11 à son premier affrontement face au Sud-Coréen Hansol Ha. La veille, il était passé directement de la ronde des poules au tableau principal, en remportant cinq de ses six affrontements de cinq touches.

Please read this one evening, during Hockey Night in America, when you have nothing to do. That no Canadian team made the playoffs this year may be a random occurrence. That none has won a Stanley Cup for 23 years is not. Something is up -- or down.

All kinds of explanations have been offered: the low Canadian dollar, higher taxes, questionable management, players preferring obscurity, and so on. Don't believe any of it; they are all excuses. The fans are here, the audiences are here, the money is here, and the energy is here, or at least could be.
