CIRM welcomes Anna Giaufret, international member from Université de Gênes

CIRM invites you to meet Anna Giaufret, international member and associate professor of the Department of Languages and French and Modern Culture of Université de Gênes. Temporarily in Montreal until November 30th, the researcher will partake in CIRM activities and will pursue her researches on Montreal comic art, a topic on which she is preparing a book for 2020, with the Presse de l’Université Laval. Interested by specialty and terminology languages (particularly in the field of digital technologies, astrophysics and renewable energy in a socioterminologic and variationist perspective), she further devoted her research on written speeches around social mobilization groups, such as Guerilla Gardening. She’s currently working on multilingual movies and their translations. She is a member of the Association internationale en études québécoises (AIEQ) and co-founder and member of the Association des jeunes chercheurs européens en études québécoises office.

CIRM Seminar: Nuits légendaires à Montréal

Anna Giaufret will moderate the CIRM seminar: Nuits légendaires à Montréal, on November 18th, at Librairie Z from 5pm to 6:30pm, that will explore the visual representation of 1950s Montreal in the comic La femme aux cartes postales (La Pastèque). Elle will be accompanied by the comic’s author and illustrator, Claude Paiement and Jean-Paul Eid, as well as historians, sociologists and musicologists that will comment the comic depending on their respective expertise. CIRM Workshops: Montréal dans les bulles : la représentation de Montréal dans les bandes dessinées des jeunes auteurs montréalais

The Workshops are work meetings designed to allow CIRM’s members and close partners to present their works, confront hypotheses and exchange with researchers and partners, in order to advance their research and benefits from interdisciplinary perspectives. Anan Giaufret’s presentation, Montreal dans les bulles, will address the representation of the public space in the Montreal comic art and the linguistic choices made by authors.
