Cardiovascular Emergencies in Women 

Learning objective: to understand sex differences in clinical presentations, prognosis, and response to therapy of acute cardiovascular conditions  

Cardiovascular disease in women remains understudied, under-recognized, underdiagnosed and undertreated globally (Lancet, 2021). 

Symposium highlights:

  • Review of recent CCS heart failure guidelines as they pertain to HFpEF/Acute heart failure in women
  • Understand presentation and management of acute cardiovascular complications in pregnancy
  • A review of pulmonary embolus in women including management and prognostication
  • Updates in stroke management in women and men
  • Review cardiac rehabilitation needs after an acute event in women and men
  • Sex differences in ACS presentation and coronary anatomy-coronary microvascular dysfunction: pathophysiology, presentation diagnosis and prognosis


Target audience: Cardiologists, Emergentologists, GP’s, Internists, Medical Students & Residents, Nurses, Allied Healthcare Professionals
