Plant Science ( McGill 2005)\n National Manager\, Ocean Modelling\n Fisheries and Oceans Can ada\n\nBio:\n Originally from Montréal\, Melinda Lontoc-Roy attended McGill University from 1999 to 2005\, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degr ee from the McGill School of Environment (Environmetrics) in 2002 and a Ma ster of Science degree in 2005. Her Master’s research focused on visualizi ng and quantifying plant root systems in three-dimensional space. He founded DE in 2005 while in graduate s tudies at McGill University. He has developed the company from its incepti on to today where he and the team work throughout the world on various man dates ranging from developing software for helping countries adapt to clim ate change to providing environmental consulting expertise to the United N ations and major corporations.\n\n \n\nKendra Pomerantz\, Bachelor of Arts Honors: Economics and the Earth’s Environment\, 2014\; MBA\, Corporate So cial and Environmental Responsibility\, 2018\n Buildings and Grounds Superv isor: Sustainability\, Contracts and Special Projects\n McGill University\; Department of Buildings\, Grounds and Events Support.\n\nKendra was highl y involved during her McGill undergraduate studies\, especially around sus tainable waste management\, directly leading to multiple employment opport unities following graduation. After working both in Canada and internation ally\, she decided to improve on her concrete management skills through an MBA at Université Laval\, specialized in environmental program implementa tion in organizations. She was then thrilled to return to McGill as an emp loyee\, originally contracted as Zero Waste Coordinator but eventually obt aining a permanent position as Supervisor: Sustainability\, Contracts and Special Projects with the McGill Buildings and Grounds Department. Today s he is working on implementing many exciting projects on campus (including expanding composting and upgrading McGill’s waste bins and signage)\, impr oving the contents of operational contracts\, and ensuring that contractor s comply\n\n \n\nCamille Ouellet Dallaire\, M.Sc\, 2012\; Ph.D Geography\, 2018\n Policy Analyst\n Geological Survey of Canada\, Natural Resources Can ada\n\nCamille is a doctoral candidate that survived the last nine years i n Burnside Hall. She studied geography throughout her post-secondary educa tion\, from CEGEP in Trois-Rivières\, to a Bachelor’s degree at Université Laval\, to a Master’s degree and PhD at McGill University under the super vision of Bernhard Lehner. Her PhD work aims to provide new tools and data for the sustainable management of river systems at large scales\, with wo rk on the global and Canadian scale\, and a study of the Greater Mekong re gion. Her weapons of choice are geographic information systems\, spatial s tatistics and scientific outreach. She is the mom of a nine month old baby girl and is looking forward to starting her new job as policy analyst in Ottawa in April.\n\n \n\nMaya Hassa\, Bachelor of Ag. Env. Sc. Renewable R esource Management\, 2018\n Associate\, Inerjys Ventures\n\nMaya has over 2 years of extensive lab and field work experience researching biogeochemic al processes in the context of renewable resource management. She worked a s an International Project director for a student-run\, community-based de velopment organization at McGill University\, where she managed a venture investment initiative and consequently developed and led a team of interns in completing a sustainable development project with an NGO in the Peruvi an Amazon. She currently works as an Associate at a clean technology-focus ed venture capital firm in Montreal and a candidate for the CFA program.\n \n \n\nLeandra Langlois\, Bachelor of Bioresource Engineering\, 2014\n Envi ronmental Emergencies Officer\n Environment and Climate Change Canada\n\nLe andra is a Bioresource Engineering and Management graduate from McGill Uni versity. Upon graduation\, she started full time with Environment and Clim ate Change Canada’s National Environmental Emergencies Centre. Over the pa st 4 years\, she has developed a vast skill set that includes expertise in environmental and socioeconomic resources at risk to various types of env ironmental emergencies\, GIS and geospatial data\, project management and spill response operations. Maintaining a can-do attitude and fostering inn ovative problem solving are two of her core professional values. Leandra i s excited to be apart of McGill’s Green Careers week.\n\n \n\nChristina Ko zsukan\, BA Environment (Environment & Development)\, class of 2018\n Accou nt Manager/Customer Success\, One Tree Planted\n\nMy passion for the envir onment started when I was in 11\, learning about the greenhouse gas effect in elementary school. When I started studying at McGill\, my eyes were op ened to so many fascinating topics and themes surrounding the Earth and cl imate change that I wanted to do something about it. When I found a job at One Tree Planted\, I knew that this was what I wanted to do in my career. I converse with business people\, teachers and individuals who seek to ma ke the Earth greener\, and who would like to combat increasing rates of de forestation by helping us plant trees around the world.\n\n \n\nRECEPTION FOLLOWING THE EVENT (Provided by MESS)\n\n\n RSVP through myFuture\n\n\nWOR KING AT ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE CHANGE CANADA\n\nThursday March 28th\n Brow n 5001 – Downtown Campus\n 12:00 pm 2:00 pm\n\nMr. Stuart Lee will present his experience and career path\, and will also provide an overview of Envi ronment and Climate Change Canada along with the types of careers it offer s to university students and graduates.\n\nStuart Lee\, BSc Biology / Bioc hemistry\; PhD Science Education\n Senior Advisor to the Expert Support Nat ional Program Director\n Environmental Protection Branch\n Environment and C limate Change Canada\n \n Bio:\n Stuart began his career in the life sciences \, studying molecular biology and biochemistry as an undergraduate and gra duate student. He cut his studies short to move to the West Coast and beca me involved in environmental issues. After teaching at the University of V ictoria for a number of years\, he took a Ph.D. in Science Education\, foc using on the learning involved in advocacy around science-based issues. Af ter some brief post-doctoral work on Indigenous approaches to knowledge / resource management\, he started working for Environment Canada in a progr am looking at the Ecosystem Effects of Genetically Modified Organisms. Dur ing his career in the public service\, he has had the privilege to work on a variety of complex science-policy files including – biotechnology and s ustainable development\, science and innovation policy for Canada\, water policy\, and a number of cumulative effects-related projects\, including t he environmental effects of the oil sands\, and the new Impact Assessment regime.\n  \n\nRSVP through myFuture\n\n\nGreen Careers Week coordinators a re committed to making our events as accessible and barrier-free as possib le.
