Come hear a recent McGill grad talk about his post-graduation career transition; from the classrooms of Leacock to the halls of Parliament.

Speaker: Gabriel Helfant, BA ‘20, Coordinator, Digital and Creative Content, Office of the Prime Minister of Canada | Cabinet du premier ministre du Canada

Bio: Originally from Toronto, Gabriel studied Political Science and History at McGill while pursuing a career in Canadian politics. He got his start by interning with Minister Marco Mendicino over the summer of 2018, then moved to the Liberal Party of Canada after graduating in 2020. There, he worked on social media and digital communications prior to the election, and advertising during the campaign. Gabriel is now at the Prime Minister’s Office where he coordinates video products and supports the digital communications team.

Speaker: John Aspler, PhD in Neuroscience/Neuroethics, Public Service Assistant at OPL, Chargé de cours, and ORCID-CA Community Manager

Bio: John Aspler graduated from McGill University with a PhD in Neuroscience in 2021. His exposure to a stream of problematic neuroscience-related news publications both cultivated and cemented in him an interest in improving public scientific literacy. John pursued his research at the Pragmatic Health Ethics Research Unit, where he worked on several projects about media discourse surrounding people with neurodevelopmental disabilities like fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. He is currently the Manager of the Canadian Persistent Identifier (PID) Community at the Canadian Research Knowledge Network, supporting the use of PIDs like ORCID iDs and DOIs across the country.

Bio:  Azelie Pouliot is Director of Client Services at Salesfloor, an omnichannel tech company that works with companies such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales and Novartis. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Neuropsychology and Anthropology from McGill University and is completing a Master's degree in Management at HEC. She is a released singer-songwriter and volunteers as a project lead at Montreal’s Youth Chamber of Commerce in her spare time
