Join us for the 2022 CAnD3 Keynote Address with Dr. Robert A. Hummer, Past-President of the Population Association of America and Howard W. Odum Distinguished Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This is the first hybrid (in-person and virtual) session since the CAnD3 Training Program's launch in 2020. The Keynote Lecture will be held at McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
This year's Keynote Address theme will be Race/Ethnicity, Racism, and Population Health and Aging. The intersection of these topics is more important now than ever: Just in Canada, for the first time in history, adults 65 years and over outnumber children 14 years and under, prompting the need for social innovation at every level and sector of policy. At the same time, disparities in the access to the benefits of such social innovations, including those in population health, continue to persist across racial and ethnic groups. Drawing on examples from the United States, Dr. Hummer will speak to how research can identify and address racial/ethnic inequities in health indicators—such as life expectancy and allostatic load—in order to improve population health for all.
