Hiring Guidelines

Hiring someone? Opening a position? AMUSE? AMURE? MUNACA?

Where to start? Please fill in the Hiring request form

For ALL new hires (Casuals, Research associates/assistants, invigilators, work study students, Research trainees, volunteers, etc), please fill in the Hiring request form. Please allow 3 business days, for the administration office to review your request and get back to you.

For questions, you may contact luisa.sabaz [at] mcgill.ca (subject: Question%20re%20Hiring%20request) (Luisa Sabaz).

Please fill in the Hiring request form as early as possible

Most job categories are unionized and require following specific instructions on posting, compensation, offer letters, etc.

For each new hire, the admin office must review collective agreements and job descriptions to identify in which job category the proposed job description falls. Once identified, the posting and hiring process may take anywhere from 3 weeks to 6 months to be completed. Keep in mind that immigration paperwork will most likely add to the delays.

Note that the complete hiring process (from recruitment to on-boarding) is now done through Workday

For a complete list of unions and associations at McGill University, along with their respective Collective Agreements, please consult the Human Resources website.
