A summer message from Dean Maioni

As the summer arrives and the academic year winds to a close, Dean Antonia Maioni shares a message with the Arts community.

Dear members of the Arts community,

Last week, summer arrived at our doorsteps, ushering in a reminder that we are now halfway into 2020. This has been a year like no other: one where we have all had to adapt quickly to the unknown in all facets of our lives. However, your positivity and adaptability in the face of these uncertain times allowed us to successfully complete the Winter 2020 semester remotely and undertake the Summer semester – both great accomplishments for our entire community.

Although we remain apart, the distance between us has proven that McGill’s sense of community knows no bounds. We recently came together to celebrate the Class of 2020 with a Virtual Convocation ceremony and specific content for our Arts community. Although this year’s celebrations looked different from usual, this was a memorable occasion for all of us.

As we continue preparations for the Fall 2020 delivery of our academic programs via remote platforms, we will regularly update our website with pertinent information for our students, instructors and staff. The University and the Faculty have put together numerous support and resources, which I invite you to consult regularly as the situation progresses.

While the last few months have been challenging for us all, your perseverance and unwavering commitment to realizing the Faculty of Arts’ academic mission are inspiring. Wherever you are, please take the time this summer to enjoy the sunshine, prioritize your health, and recharge with your loved ones. I look forward to reconnecting with you in the fall (à distance)!

Bon courage à tous et à bientôt,

Antonia Maioni
Dean of Arts
