Tenure-Track Position in Architecture

The School of Architecture at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in design technologies to commence on 1 August 2016. A unit within the Faculty of Engineering, the School is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate and graduate programs in design, history and theory, and urban design and housing; it values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession, and society at large.

We are seeking an individual capable of bridging technology and design culture who is also committed to architecture as a creative enterprise. We are particularly interested in candidates who will play a leadership role in defining and implementing a programme of research through collaboration with colleagues in architecture, engineering, and computer science. The successful candidate will have a record of proven excellence in studio instruction and outstanding accomplishment in architectural design, with expertise in design, technology, integrative and sustainable construction, and/or digital fabrication. Teaching responsibilities will include design studios, undergraduate courses, and advanced graduate seminars in the candidate’s area of expertise, as well as supervision of Master’s and Ph.D. students.

Evidence of outstanding research achievements or research potential is essential. Candidates must have a professional degree in architecture and an advanced degree in architecture or a related field, teaching experience, publications, and/or an accomplished creative practice in architecture. Candidates with a Ph.D. and/or eligibility for professional registration are preferred. Knowledge of French is an asset and an immigration requirement for candidates who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
