The School of Architecture at McGill University was founded in 1896. Our mission is to educate professionals who will contribute to the socio-economic and cultural development of Quebec, Canada and the broader global community through responsible participation in the process of the design, construction and interpretation of the built environment. The School offers professional programs, including B.Sc. (Arch.) and M.Arch. (Professional), and post-professional research programs, including M.Arch. (Post-professional) and Ph.D.
Submissions Being Accepted for Working Models Forum
The Facility for Architectural Research in Media and Mediation [FARMM] is pleased to present the Working Models Forum: a coordinated set of events that bring together scholars and practitioners to focus on the nature, status, and productivity of our inventive capacity to meaningfully reconfigure the world and to make things. The forum will launch on May 8th with a pre-forum prototyping charette. Two days of panel discussions will follow on May 9th and 10th, featuring presentations by invited guests and a public keynote lecture by philosopher Graham Harman.
The Working Models Forum is accepting presentation proposals relevant to the overall conference theme or one of the three thematic sessions being held on May 9 and 10, 2014. Prospective participants are asked to submit a proposal (500 word max) for a 20-minute presentation and CV by March 28, 2014. The sessions are: 1) Redefining Technics, 2) Mobilizing Models and 3) Design Intelligence and Prototyping. Each session will include 3-5 presentations and conclude with a moderated roundtable discussion and question period. Please outline how your presentation will address the questions and issues of the specified session. Submissions from students, academics and professionals in all fields of work and study are welcome.

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Urban Humanities at McGill

The Institute for the Public Life of Arts and Ideas (IPLAI) and the Facility for Architectural Research in Media and Mediation (FARMM) in the School of Architecture at McGill University seek one postdoctoral fellow in urban humanities with appropriate expertise in one or several of the following areas: cultural studies; media studies; architectural history & theory; urban geography & design. Familiarity or expertise with digital media applications such as 3D-modeling, animation, imaging, GIS, and/or graphic design applications is a plus. The candidate must have a demonstrable research interest in one of the primary research axes listed below and exhibit project management skills and interest.
