About Us

Message from the Director:

Inspired by the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection & Immunity (MI4) and driven by the desire to mobilize the McGill community to join forces in the fight against AMR, we are excited to officially launch the McGill AMR Centre in October 2021.

After 18 months of planning, several town hall meetings, countless discussions with our members, leadership meetings, pandemic-related interruptions, the new McGill AMR Centre is formally coming to life. Earlier this year, we held our inaugural AMR research symposium (June 2021), partnered with the McGill Summer Institute in Infectious Diseases and Global Health to expand their highly successful AMR workshop , and held our first AMR research summer studentship competition (TinyEarth@McGill). Now that the centre has officially been launched, we are very much looking forward to building our research community, creating ties with new partners, and expanding our activities. For this 2021-2022 season, we will host the inaugural AMR Innovation Summit and other outreach activities during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (Nov 18th-24th 2021), an AMR-Microbiome symposium for the McGill Bicentennial Infection and Immunity week, and our 2nd AMR research symposium. Stay tuned!

The McGill AMR Centre brings together a diverse scientific community that spans multiple faculties, campuses and affiliated research institutes, with expertise across the biomedical, engineering, animal, natural and social sciences. Our goal is to harness the expertise and creativity of our researchers to address AMR challenges and priorities through interdisciplinary research and education. We strive to foster collaborations, contribute to local and global leadership, and enhance training opportunities.
