Peter Boudreau

Peter Boudreau is a PhD student specializing in Byzantine and medieval art.

His doctoral research examines temporality, memory, and Byzantium’s relationship to the past, and how these concepts materialized in the visual culture of the Later Byzantine period (c. 1204-1453). Broader academic interests include critical theory, spolia studies, archives, nostalgia, poetics, and the concept of style. His research has received support from Koç University’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilizations.

Boudreau holds a B.A. in Art History from Emory University and an M.A. in Art History from Tufts University, where his research focused on Byzantine icons of John the Baptist and the phenomenology of devotional experience.
