Where will I live?

Life in Rez

EACH YEAR, McGILL'S RESIDENCES ARE HOME to some 2,850 first-year students, blending a safe environment with the freedom of independent living. Spending your first year in a residence is a great way to meet new people and forge friendships that will carry you through a challenging undergraduate career and beyond. Our living quarters and meal plans are offered in a range of styles to meet students' tastes, needs and budgets.

  • Downtown residences are located both on campus  and adjacent to it in a variety of settings, from the mountainside location of our dormitory halls to neighbourhood streets that feature shared-facilities housing and apartment residences.
  • Award-winning Solin Hall, just west of campus, has  three- and four-bedroom apartments and is close to a bustling public market.
  • Housing is available at First Peoples' House for all aboriginal students regardless of age. For more information, contact the Residence Admissions office.
  • Macdonald Campus residences are located on the  beautiful grounds in Ste. Anne de Bellevue and include Laird Hall and the EcoResidence, featuring environmentally-friendly living quarters.

If finding your own apartment is more to your taste, McGill's Off-Campus Housing Office can provide help with your search, including extensive apartment listings and information on Quebec rental law.
