Structured as a classic apprenticeship model, this elective is intended for medical students having completed their clerkship in General Surgery. Students will shadow Dr. Meterissian in the OR and in clinics (breast, soft-tissue, melanomas) and will be expected to function autonomously in both areas with careful supervision. This will be a unique opportunity for a medical student to take on more responsibilities and further their knowledge and skills in cancer-related surgery. There is also an opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects depending on interest. Students will be expected to stay later during the days or weekends that Dr. Meterissian is on-call.
