Who and what are tutors?

The tutors are McGill senior undergraduate and graduate students, or alumni (up to 2 years from graduation), who have obtained a grade of 80% or more in the course(s) they wish to tutor. They are required to secure a recommendation from their department and are screened by the Tutorial Service.

Tutors will try to clarify course content, help you prepare for exams as well as help you improve your study skills. However, tutors cannot do your homework, write your term papers, make up for missed classes, substitute for professors, study or learn for you.

Tutors are also available to the general public. To request a tutor you must email the tutoring [dot] service [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Administrative Coordinator) for instructions on how to proceed.

Do you consider yourself a people person?

McGill Tutorial Service accepts applications on an ongoing basis throughout the entire year. Prospective tutors may apply to tutor for any McGill course they have mastered, as well as editing/proofreading. For McGill alumni (up to 2 yrs from graduation), please contact the tutoring [dot] service [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Administrative Coordinator) for further instructions.
