Government of Quebec Hotel Program

General Information

You can now benefit from reduced rates at most hotels located throughout the Province of Quebec (excluding downtown Montreal). These rates are applicable for University-related travel only.

You will be required to show your McGill ID at check-in. Make sure to verify that the rate showing at check-in is the same as the rate indicated in the Government  of Quebec Hotel Guide.

 Keep in mind next time you travel within Quebec.


How to make a reservation

What you need to know

  • Quebec Hotel Directory is available only in French (information in English on the websites of the hotels)
  • For hotels on the Island of Montreal refer to the Montreal Official Hotel Program
  • You must have a McGill Employee ID to present at check-in to qualify for these rates
  • You will need a credit card to hold your reservation
  • Your credit card will not be charged until the last day of your stay
  • At the time of check-in verify that the rate featured is the same as the rate indicated in the Government of Quebec Hotel Directory
  • Review carefully the hotel’s cancellation policies
  • Applicable for University-related travel only
  • Prices are valid from 1st January 2014 to 31st December 2014

How to reserve a hotel

1.      Government  of Quebec Hotel Guide

Under bookmarks, select the “Index of Municipalities” (“Index des Municipalités”)

  • Identify the letter of the alphabet which corresponds to your destination (i.e. “Q” for Quebec City)
  • The hotels are listed in alphabetical order under each city
  • The rates are displayed by date and in some cases by length of stay (1, 7 or 30 nights)
  • Each hotel listing includes the address, telephone number and link to the hotel website (if available) 
  • Additional information is featured where available such as internet access, parking, hotel rating

2.      Book directly through the Hotel’s Website (if available)

  • Go to the hotel’s website to make a reservation (click on the URL address in the left corner)
  • Certain hotel websites include the option of selecting “Government Rate” in the rates or promotions menu – however  it does not show a dollar amount
  • If the Government of Quebec rate is not featured, you will have to call the hotel directly to make a reservation (see #3 below). You may be asked to enter your McGill ID number during the reservation process
  • To be eligible for government rates, you have to present your McGill ID at check-in
  • Provide credit card details to hold your reservation
  • Verify carefully the hotel’s cancellation policy
  • You will receive a confirmation to the email address you provided at the time of reservation. This email will include a link that you can use, if necessary, to cancel your reservation.

3.      Call the hotel directly

  • Call the telephone number featured in the Directory to reach the hotel
  • You have to mention that you are eligible for Quebec Government rates – identify yourself from McGill
  • Provide details of your dates, your room requirements and make the reservation
  • Confirm the method of payment and verify the hotel’s cancellation policies
  • You will receive a confirmation number
