“Teaching Snapshots” is a website from Teaching and Learning Services (TLS) that profiles McGill instructors as they share their perspectives on teaching and learning with colleagues, students and the community at large. The instructors featured are from a range of departmental and disciplinary contexts and have all been involved in University initiatives to enhance student learning.
The goal of this website is to celebrate teaching by providing a forum where ideas about teaching and learning are shared openly. While the process and results of research and scholarship are typically reported to the public, teaching is more likely to occur behind closed doors. Teaching is seen as the private domain of the instructor, and colleagues and the community at large may be unaware of how instructors connect to students and promote their learning. At Teaching and Learning Services, we would like to “open the classroom door” and offer a space for McGill instructors to share their reflections on teaching and learning with colleagues, students and the public. Teaching and learning are critical aspects of the University experience, and this site aims to recognize the instructors who are entrusted with this endeavor.
