Feedback Strategies: Engaging Students In Dialogue

Location: McLennan Library Building, MS-74 (ground level). Use the Service Point entrance at 3415 McTavish Montreal, QC H3A 0C8.

Providing feedback to students on their writing assignments can be a complex and time-consuming task. It can also be frustrating in that students don’t necessarily pay attention to feedback.

How then can we engage students in the feedback process and encourage them to take responsibility for their learning? In this workshop, we will focus on strategies for providing feedback on undergraduate writing assignments such as essays and research (term) papers at all stages: before, during, and after the assignments. An additional benefit is that these strategies can result in a more efficient marking process for instructors.

Please note that this workshop does not address peer feedback. If you are interested in exploring how to have your students give each other feedback, please join us for a TLS workshop on Peer Assessment on May 25, 2017.

Note: Light refreshments will be provided.
