Medical students

Students attend lectures on culture, medicine and psychiatry in their first year behavioural science course (Introduction to the Patient). Electives in research and clinical work are available at the Youth Mental Health Team of the CLSC Park Extension and the Cultural Consultation Service of the Jewish General Hospital.

Psychiatric residents

Residents attend seminars on cultural psychiatry during their Diploma Course teaching. Clinical and research rotations are available. Residents with research interests may elect to attend the Summer School in Social and Cultural Psychiatry or enter the MSc in Psychiatry (Social and Transcultural Psychiatry). Research and clinical electives are available at the Youth Mental Health Team of the CLSC Park Extension, the Cultural Consultation Service of the Jewish General Hospital and the Community Psychiatry Program of the Montreal General Hospital.

Graduate students

The Department of Psychiatry offers an MSc in Psychiatry with a focus on social and cultural psychiatry. The Division has close links with the Department of Social Studies of Medicine where students can pursue an MSc in Medical Anthropology, History or Sociology.

Fellows and visiting scholars

Individual programs of consultation and participation in the activities of the Division can be arranged for Fellows or visiting scholars on an individual basis. Fellows and visiting scholars must provide their own funding.
