Lisa B. Spanierman, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology at McGill University. Dr. Spanierman’s research program focuses on the psychological investigation of whiteness and racism. Her recent publications appear in the Journal of Counseling Psychology, The Counseling Psychologist, and the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education. In her role as Director of the McGill Diversity and Equity Research Lab, Dr. Spanierman and her students are investigating racial microaggressions that target Aboriginal and visible minority students at McGill. Dr. Spanierman teaches research methods and multicultural counselling in the American Psychological Association (APA)- and Canadian Psychological Association (CPA)-accredited counselling psychology program. Her work has been recognized by the APA’s Society of Counseling Psychology’s Fritz and Linn Kuder Early Career Award and multiple teaching awards at both graduate and undergraduate levels. At present, she serves on the editorial boards of two APA journals and is the Vice President for Scientific Affairs for the Society of Counseling Psychology.
