Campus Crops 3 (SP0072)

Status: COMPLETED May 2012 - September 2012

Campus Crops is a student run urban gardening initiative at McGill University's downtown campus. We grow food on campus, by students, for students.

Sustainability Videos Project (SP0078)

Status: COMPLETED Summer 2012

The goal of this project was to create a light-hearted short film that framed sustainability as a real problem that needs to be thought about in a very deep way.  

Greening Indoor McGill Initiative (SP0065)

Status: COMPLETED February 2012 - April 2013

Greening Indoor McGill Initiative promotes the use of indoor plants to improve air quality and promote a healthy aesthetic through the greening of indoor environments for McGill faculty, staff, and students. Addressing Business Travel Behaviour (SP0061)

Status: COMPLETED January 2012 - April 2012

Transportation Research at McGill (TRAM) is presently researching the travel behaviour of McGill University students, faculty and staff. This student-led initiative, in collaboration with the McGill Sustainability Office, is conducting a survey which aims to discover how the McGill community commutes to and from campus.

Cafe Rhizae (SP0060)

Status: COMPLETED November 2011 - January 2012

This project created an innovative protocol on how to grow gourmet oyster mushrooms from spent coffee grounds. They collected used coffee grounds from McGill cafeterias and area cafes, which was used for their experimental research to grow edible mushrooms.

Home Energy Team (SP0059)

Status: COMPLETED November 2011 - May 2013

The Off-Campus Home Energy Team is a student effort to bridge the on-campus and off-campus experience of others living in the sometimes freezing cold but beautiful city of Montreal. The basic idea is that students living in apartments near campus sign up for a visit from a knowledgeable OCHET student team to help them reduce energy bills and live more comfortably through the winter.

Solin Hall Compost Pails (SP0058)

Status: COMPLETED November 2011

When interest in composting was expressed by Solin Hall residents, a team of committed council members looked into getting a compost pail for every apartment in Solin.

MFSP Intern 2 (SP0056)

Status: COMPLETED November 2011 - May 2012

A continuation of the McGill Food Systems Project Local Food Plus Intern (SP0045): A McGill student will intern with Local Food Plus, assisting with Quebec farm certifications over the summer of 2011, helping McGill meet the Certified Local Sustainable supply for the campus' food services demands as McGill prepares to launch a partnership with Local Food Plus in fall 2011.
