McGill Apicultural Association (SP0101)

Status: COMPLETED January 2012 - January 2014

The McGill Apicultural Association (MAA), along with the MacDonald Student-run Ecologocal Gardens (MSEG) and the Office of Student Academic Services at MacDonald Campus (OSAS) has worked with the SPF to create and institutionalize a beekeeping and farming internship program. This project provides sufficient hives to create the revenue needed to employ students in the summer, and promotes student engagement with apiculture on MacDonald Campus.

Dew Water Harvest (SP0098)

Status: COMPLETED Fall 2013 - Summer 2014

McGill Feeding McGill 4 (SP0099)

Status: COMPLETED Summer 2013

The mandate of McGill Feeding McGill is to provide locally grown fruits and vegetables from the Macdonald Campus’s Horticultural Research Center to McGill University’s Food and Dining services operated residences and the general student community.

Childcare Access Study (SP0096)

Status: COMPLETED May 2013 - February 2014

This project measures the magnitude of the lack of child care spots available to the faculty and graduate students on the McGill downtown campus. Through background research, and the design and analysis of a survey, a concise and informative report will be produced that highlights the impacts and needs of childcare services. The project hopes to contribute to the economic and social sustainability of the McGill community.

Library Recycling Multibins (SP0097)

Status: COMPLETED March 2011 - December 2012

The Library Multibins project oversaw the purchase and installation of 25 specialized recycling/waste multibins in three libraries on McGill campus, including the main Humanities and Social Sciences Library (Redpath/Mclennan). This project involved an educational campaign designed to have users of the bins to take the routines they learn at the libraries and implement them at home.

 

 

Sustainability Symposium 3 (SP0092)

Status: COMPLETED Spring 2013

 

The 2013 edition of the McGill Sustainability Symposium, "Adapting to a Changing Climate", took place on March 14th. It featured guest speakers, a poster session, presentations of student work, and a "world-cafe" round table discussion.
