Litter bag lunch: Help beautify our campus
Tomorrow (Friday, April 29) come and volunteer for 20 minutes, anytime between noon and 1:30 p.m., to pick-up litter on campus and adjacent sidewalks. Bags and gloves will be provided (or bring your own gardening gloves). Meeting points: Roddick Gates, Milton Gates and the McTavish steps. Défi Climat lunchtime workshop
As part of Défi Climat activities, we are hosting a workshop on Fossil Fool’s Day in the Wong Building, Room 1050 from 12:00-14:00. This will include an exclusive preview of McGill’s Pulse energy dashboard, where web users can view building energy consumption in real time! Students and staff will also be presenting on projects that they are working on.
International Forum on Integrated Water Management: call for submissions
The 2nd International Forum aims to increase knowledge regarding sustainable stormwater management in the world. Speakers and participants from stormwater management in urban areas are invited. The Forum will take place October 23-25, 2011 at the University of Sherbrooke. Stormwater management professionals are invited to submit papers by April 8, 2011.
Défi Climat: every action counts
The issue of sustainability is at the forefront of public concern. Development of a culture of sustainability will require important efforts on the part of all of us. McGill’s Sustainability Office asks that you consider collaborating in this important initiative by participating in Défi Climat, where you can commit to taking simple steps toward improving the sustainability of our community.
MSE Research Symposium: Global Environmental Change
The McGill School of Environment is hosting their 4th Environmental Research Symposium on April 13th and 14th. The theme is Global Environmental Change, and this annual symposium is motivated by the need to bring together ideas and research findings from different disciplines to develop new approaches to environmental research.
Green Drinks Montreal
The PGSS environment committee is proud to present another Green Drinks Montreal event. There will be a mix starting at 5 PM, followed at 6 PM by a presentation by Laura Rhodes who is Food Systems Administrator in the McGill Food and Dining Services unit. She will talk on "Seeding Sustainable Food Systems." Her presentation will be followed by a World Cafe Style Discussion.

The PGSS environment committee presents the film "DIRT!" DIRT! takes you inside the wonders of the soil. It tells the story of Earth's most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility--from its miraculous beginning to its crippling degradation. DIRT! the Movie brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has. Mix at 5 PM, followed by the film at 6 PM.
