The Office of Sustainability and the First-Year Office’s Leadership Training Program invite all students, faculty and staff to take action to make McGill sustainable.

McGill University, John Molson School of Business (John Molson Sustainable Business Group) and HEC Montreal are joining forces for their annual conference on sustainability; Business Beyond Tomorrow. The conference aims to educate and inspire the business leaders of today, as well as our student community; the business leaders of tomorrow.

The PGSS environment committee presents the film "DIRT!" DIRT! takes you inside the wonders of the soil. It tells the story of Earth's most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility--from its miraculous beginning to its crippling degradation. DIRT! the Movie brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact that the soil has. Mix at 5 PM, followed by the film at 6 PM.

Did you know that 97 per cent of all products and industrial processes require a chemical reaction? To make matters worse, many of those processes result in waste and toxic byproducts. Quite simply, a revolution is needed to change how we go about manufacturing the products we use every day. Good news! The revolution is already underway.

This workshop provides participants already familiar with the basic terminology and concepts of cultural and racial diversity with a more in-depth engagement with these and other ideas.

This first annual symposium will feature guest speakers, a poster session for students to showcase current research, and a “world-cafe” discussion. The keynote speaker is Jonathan Foley, current director of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota, whose work focuses on complex global environmental systems. The McGill University Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice, the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law and the Faculty of Law of the University of Montreal, are very pleased to invite you to a symposium in honour of the late Justice Charles D. Join us on to open the McGill Sustainability Project : Water is Life – a travelling exhibit about water sustainability at McGill - with a special presentation by Joanna Eyquem (Action H2O Montreal). This presentation focuses on a key national campaign of Sierra Club Canada that concerns water conservation across the country and management practices on the Island of Montreal.

Dr. Stan Boutin discusses the environmental challenges presented by the Alberta Oil Sands. He will use a case study of woodland caribou, an endangered species, to illustrate how powerful land-use planning tools can now give society the information needed to make ecologically informed decisions about how and if conservation and development targets can be achieved.
