Pow Wow marks colourful end to successful Indigenous Awareness Week

McGill’s fourth annual Indigenous Awareness Week came to a lively, colourful close on Friday, Sept. 19, with dancers dressed in traditional costumes performing an inter-tribal dance during the Pow Wow on the lower campus field in front of dozens of smiling spectators.

Microplastic pollution discovered in St. Lawrence River sediments

A team of researchers from McGill University and the Quebec government have discovered (in the form of polyethylene 'microbeads', <2 mm diameter) widely distributed across the bottom of the St. Lawrence River, the first time such pollutants have been found in freshwater sediments.

Protests aim to bring attention to need to act on climate change
