About the M.D./M.B.A. Program
The M.D./M.B.A.
program recognizes that there is an increasing demand in the health care sector
for physicians with management skills and expertise. This is a five-year
program in which the first year is spent in the Desautels Faculty of Management
completing the M.B.A. core as well as building a solid background in health care
management. Then, the students will begin their medical studies, which will be
integrated with additional elective courses in management. This will provide
the opportunity to train well-rounded physician-managers who can eventually pursue
interesting careers in a wide range of health care facilities, from the smallest
clinic to the largest tertiary health care facility, from research laboratories
to university or hospital medical departments. Our graduates will also have
career opportunities in the health insurance sector, which is a significant
layer of the health care system in a number of countries, including the United
States.
Upon graduation, students receive an M.B.A. from the Desautels Faculty
of Management and an M.D.,C.M. degree from the Faculty of Medicine.
Note: Students will have to follow the M.B.A.
Base Camp (Statistics, Math for Finance, Financial Accounting) prior to
commencement of the M.B.A.
