Transcripts

General information

McGill issues official transcripts free of charge and will mail them by regular mail to the address(es) indicated on the request made in Minerva. Alternatively they may be picked up in person at Service Point in sealed envelopes.
Note: You cannot submit a transcript request if you have holds on your record (e.g. accounting, registrar, library etc.). Please verify your unofficial transcript in Minerva for any holds.

    1. Log into Minerva
    2. Select the Student Menu
    3. Select the Student Records Menu
    4. Click View Your Unofficial Transcript

  • Alumni who were registered or graduated prior to Fall 2002:
    Please visit the IT Knowledgebase to view how your McGill ID & Minerva PIN has changed.

Request a printed/official transcript

    1. Log into Minerva
    2. Select the Student Menu
    3. Select the Student Records Menu
    4. Click Request Printed/Official Transcript
    5. Select one of the four options to indicate where your transcript(s) should be sent
      Note: For pick-ups, select Option 2
    6. Follow the instructions and make sure to click Submit to complete your request

  • Alumni who were registered or graduated prior to Fall 2002:

  • Alumni who were registered or graduated prior to 1972 (archived records):

    You are unable to submit a request in Minerva.

    1. Complete and sign a Request for Release of Official Document form located on the Forms page
    2. Submit the form to Service Point

    Note: Proxy requests will be accepted only with written authorization.

  • Delivery method

    All mail requests will be sent via regular mail (Canada Post).

    Should you wish to use a delivery service (e.g. courier such as Fed Ex, UPS etc.) to have your transcripts mailed, this can be arranged at your own cost. To do this, you must:

    • Set up an account with the delivery service
    • Order your transcript using the Request for Release of Official Document form located on the Forms page
    • Indicate at the bottom of the form: the name of delivery service you wish to use; and your account number for that delivery company

    To help you obtain a cost estimate for the delivery, please use the following weight and dimensions as a guide:

    Small envelope: 1 transcript (approx. 3 to 5 pages) – 23cmX14cm (9.1in X 5.5in) - Weight 5 grams (0.176 oz)

    Large envelope – multiple transcripts – 29cmx23cm (11.4inx9.1in) – Weight 7 grams (0.247 oz)
    Note: When you order multiple copies of a transcript to be delivered to the same place, they are placed in a larger envelope.

View your transcript request history

    1. Log into Minerva
    2. Select the Student Menu
    3. Select the Student Records Menu
    4. Click View History of Transcript Requests
    5. Select a Date Ordered and click Submit to view request details

Processing time

Requests are processed in about 3 to 5 working days (5 to 7 during peak periods). Requests for archived transcripts (pre-1972) however, will take longer.

McGill may not be held responsible for the loss or delay of transcripts in the mail.
