Shared-facilities Housing

McGill's furnished Shared-Facilities Grad Houses offer graduate students the privacy of their own bedroom along with the attraction of communal living, with large kitchens and common rooms where housemates gather to dine, watch TV or simply relax together. Ranging in capacity from 6 to 15 students, they are all located within a short walk of the main campus.

McGill Shared Facilities Houses offer all-female, all-male, and co-ed graduate accommodation. Details about each house can be found below. All graduate student residences are designated non-smoking.

3647 University is a small and cozy house located right across the street from the main campus. This house is for male students only, and contains 5 single bedrooms.

The former coach-house of one of the largest mansions in Montreal’s Golden Square Mile, 3653 de la Montagne is one of the larger grad houses. This co-ed house has 9 bedrooms and sizeable common areas.

Surrounded by the buildings of the Faculty of Law, 3661a Peel houses 6 grad students and features a living room / kitchen on each floor. The upper suite contains 3 bedrooms and is all-female, while the lower suite, also 3 bedrooms, is all-male.

A former coach house, 3704 Peel has green space outside, plenty of room inside and is right next to the Medical Students’ Society Annex and the Macintyre Medical Building. This co-ed residence houses 9 grad students.

Tucked in behind the graduate house at 3704 Peel, this cozy all-male residence houses 5 students in single bedrooms, and is centrally located to both the law and medical faculties.

499 Pins has four single bedrooms and one of the most beautiful living rooms of all the grad houses. This all-female house is also located right next to the athletics complex!

501 Pins offers a shared, all-female three-bedroom suite, as well as several studio and one-bedroom apartments, and is located right next to the athletics complex.

506 Pine is a renovated brownstone that houses 15 female grad students on its three floors. The house features a decorative fireplace and two fully equipped kitchens, and is located on the west side of campus, near the athletics complex.

Located across the street from the 505 and 509 ave des Pins MORE Houses and also steps from the athletics complex, 510 ave des Pins has renovated, cozy rooms for studying and rest, as well as great spaces for socializing, including a main floor common room with cable TV and a large, wood paneled basement dining room.

Lease

Occupancy of graduate housing is from August 25th to July 31st.  Graduate students are welcome to re-apply to return to their room or apartment each year, provided they are full time registered McGill students.

Furnishings

  • Bedrooms: single-sized bed, desk and study chair, dresser, bookshelf, night table, and vertical blinds (furnishings may vary slightly depending on room size).
  • Common kitchen: stove and oven, fridges, sink, tables and chairs.
  • Common room: sofas, chairs, coffee table and cable television.

Utilities

Electricity, hot water and heat are included in the rent.

Phone/Internet

Internet service is included in the rent costs, but a phone line must be arranged with McGill's REZ Voice and Data Service.

Security

ID card access doors (most with intercoms).

Extras

Card-operated laundry facilities.
