A homestay is an organization used primarily as the residence of the owner but with the business of accommodating paying guests.  Many language or international students look into a homestay to practice their English or French and others to learn first-hand how Canadians live.  Homestay allows students to live as a member of the family, sharing meals with their homestay family. Most important of all, a homestay includes friendly quidance from the homestay familty to help the student adjust to life in canada. There are many homestay organizations in Montreal but McGill University is not related to any of them. The accommodations have not been inspected by the university and the university assumes no responsibility in regard to any contract made with the homeowner or any arrangements made by students sharing the house.
