Welcome to Chaplaincy Services!
Chaplaincy Services is an interfaith organization dedicated to enhancing spiritual and religious life, and supporting students in practical terms.
Chaplaincy Services has a place for everyone.
We are located on the fourth floor of the West stairwell in Brown Student Services Building.
All are treated with respect and confidentiality, so be reassured this is a safe space where the diversity of human life is known and understood. At Chaplaincy Services you can find your language: talk about values or spiritual or religious life in your terms and in new ways. But we are not just talk: there are resources for students in need and social action programmes to get involved with.
What do we offer?
- Student-run magazine, Radix. A theme-based publication from different spiritual, philosophical and religious perspectives.
- Labyrinth walking: a weekly experience of walking meditation and you can join a labyrinth group.
- Religious support for students. Most religions are represented by one or more Chaplains to support their personal faith development.
- Interfaith activities: Visits to places of meeting and worship; support for a SSMU group: Interfaith Forum (iF?).
- A meditation space and various weekly meditation lessons: Zen Meditation, Sacred Green, and Sensations McGill.
- Volunteer opportunities, directly with seniors through Yellow Door with children through MSPN and indirectly through contact with Chaplains and their communities.
- A listening ear: to all students, for general advice, faith and spiritual guidance, exploration of values, ways to reduce stress, decision-making and growth in personal relationships.
- Winter clothing and assistance with food for needy students.
- New programme – Chaplaincy has freedom to continually generate activities in cooperation with others, so contact us to receive regular updates on programme.

Faith and Globalisation Initiative Summer Courses
Run by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, there are two intensive summer courses being offered to students and professionals on the subject of the Faith and Globalisation Initiative.
From their website: "This year our courses are focused on the interaction between religion and foreign policy. Many of the most difficult foreign policy challenges facing countries across the world relate to the role of religion in political and social affairs. Through a combined theoretical and empirical approach, these courses will equip diplomats, professionals and students with the critical understanding they require to tackle conceptual and practical challenges at the intersection of religion and foreign policy practice."
