Diversity Survey

How can the University administration best foster sensitivity to cultural and personal differences in the delivery of academic and other administrative supports to our students, while respecting our primary academic purposes?

This question was asked by the Principal's Task Force on Student Life and Learning in 2006 and continues to be pursued by the Principal's Task Force on Diversity, Excellence and Community Engagement.

Although, we already know that McGill has a diverse student body, we are still generally unable to describe how diverse it really is because we don't ask such questions at registration.  Students selected at random were invited to complete a survey ( Student Demographic Survey ) on their cultural and religious background, language, disabilities and gender and sexual orientation. Participation was voluntary and responses were anonymous. By measuring the range of students who study at McGill, we will be better placed to serve students more fully.
