Should I come to the walk-in clinic?
The walk-in clinic is for urgent care and is open from 8:00 – 4:00pm. Students in need of prescription renewals, physicals and referrals must make an appointment. For more information, please click here.
How does the walk-in clinic work?
Students are seen on a first come, first served basis. In order to be seen, students must present themselves at the clinic; we can not give appointments over the phone. As drop-in slots fill up quickly, it is important to arrive at the clinic as early as possible; our 3511 Peel street entrance opens at 8:00AM (we recommend that patients arrive at this time). Before giving same-day appointments, students are first required to take a number, complete a form and be seen by our triage nurse.
What do I have to bring?
Students must present their valid McGill ID card as well as either their provincial health care card or the McGill Blue Cross health insurance card. If you do not bring your card, you will have to pay for the visit. Click here for more information on health coverage.
Who can use the clinic?
The clinic can be used by all registered McGill students who have paid the Student Services fee. This fee is automatically charged to the account of all students other than Post-docs and those registered in Continuing Education. In order to use the clinic, these two groups must present proof that they have paid the fee. The clinic can not be used by McGill staff or research trainees.
When does the clinic open?
The clinic is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM To better serve our walk-in patients, our phones are open from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Our 3511 Peel street entrance opens at 8:00.
Where is the clinic located?
The clinic is located on the 3rd floor of the Brown Student Services building. You can enter from either the 3600 McTavish or 3511 Peel street entrance.
How can I contact the clinic?
If you have any questions you can call us at 514-398-6017 between 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Fridays.
How can I get a medical note?
Medical notes are given at the discretion of the doctor or nurse and can not be written for a past illness. Permission to be excused from classes and exams rests solely with the faculty or department. For more info on notes, click here. Once the clinic has reached capacity, students in need of medical notes must visit an Off-campus clinic.
Cancellation policy
Due to the high demand for our clinic services, students who are not present for their appointment will be charged $25.00.
Where can I see a doctor off campus?
If you can’t make it to the clinic during our opening hours or if the clinic has reached capacity by the time you arrive, please consult our list of off-campus clinics.
