How do I make an appointment?
Students must call 514-398-6017 to make an appointment with a doctor or nurse. Appointments become available on the 15th of each month for following month (if the 15th falls on a weekend, appointments will be available on the Monday). Due to the high demand for appointments, we ask students to be patient while waiting for their call to be answered. In an effort to reduce the wait time, we start answering calls at 8:00am.
What services can I have during an appointment?
Students can be seen for general check-ups, prescription renewals, STI testing, PAP smears, general and/or travel immunizations, referrals and third party-physicals.
On the day of the appointment…
You must arrive at the clinic reception 15 minutes before your appointment in order to register. If you arrive late, you may miss your appointment and have to reschedule. Students must present their valid McGill ID card as well as either their provincial health care card or the McGill Blue Cross health insurance card. If you do not bring your card, you will have to pay for the visit. Click here for more information on health coverage.
How can I contact the clinic?
If you have any questions you can call us at 514-398-6017 between 10:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Fridays.
Cancellation policy
If you need to cancel your appointment, you must call us 24 hours in advance. When you call, you do not need to wait to speak to an agent since there is a cancellation option where you may leave your full name, McGill ID number and the date/time of your appointment. Students who do not call to cancel will be charged $25.00 due to the fact that there are always students waiting to be seen and that the clinic can reassign these canceled spots when given the proper notice.
Who can use the clinic?
The clinic can be used by all registered McGill students who have paid the Student Services fee. This fee is automatically charged on the account of all students other than Post-docs and those registered in Continuing Education. In order to use the clinic, these two groups must present proof that they have paid the fee. The clinic can not be used by McGill staff or research trainees.
When does the clinic open?
The clinic is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. To better serve our walk-in patients, our phones are open from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Our 3511 Peel street entrance opens at 8:00 AM.
Where is the clinic located?
The clinic is located on the 3rd floor of the Brown Student Services building. You can enter from either the 3600 McTavish or 3511 Peel street entrance.
Why does it take so long to get an appointment?
The health system is Quebec is such that there simply are not enough doctors to accommodate the needs of the public. This is why our appointments fill up so quickly and why we encourage students to call us on the 15th of the month to get an appointment for the following month.
