
Background
Project Hero was co-founded by Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel Kevin Reed and Retired General Rick Hillier to provide support to the sons and daughters of fallen Canadian soldiers.
Objective
Effective September 2009, McGill University is proud to participate in Project Hero by providing tuition waivers to children of Canadian military killed while serving in an active mission.
Terms
The waiver* will cover tuition for full-time undergraduate studies for a period not exceeding the normal program duration , eg., 6 terms for a 90 credit program. The waiver will not cover incidental, ancillary and/or administrative fees.
*Revenue Canada and Revenue Quebec tax receipts will be issued for the value of the tuition waiver.
Eligibility
The recipient must be:
- A child of a member of the Canadian military killed while serving in an active mission;*
- Under the age of 26;
- Registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate degree program and maintain satisfactory academic standing.
*Eligibility will be determined by Canadian Forces criteria.
Application Process
Applications for Project Hero should be made to the Scholarships and Student Aid Office by sending an email to student [dot] aid [at] mcgill [dot] ca (Student Aid & Scholarships Office) with a Subject of Project Hero.
