Mobility awards

The purpose of the Mobility Award is to encourage students to study abroad as part of their McGill degree program by defraying part of the cost of this experience. As of summer 2013 the two ways a student may receive funding for this award are the:

  • Basic Mobility Award and/or
  • Mobility Financial Aid Supplement

Information on these, as well as other travel awards, is available on McGill's International Education website. Below you will find additional information needed in order to apply for the Mobility Financial Aid Supplement.

Mobility Financial Aid Supplement

The Mobility Financial Aid Supplement, administered by the Scholarships and Student Aid Office, is primarily for students who:

  • are approved for an eligible study abroad activity.
  • demonstrate financial need according to SSAO guidelines*.

*Due to the high costs associated with travel, receipt of government aid is not the only determining factor in demonstrating financial need.

How to apply

Students can apply by going to Minerva > Financial Aid/Awards tab > Financial Aid Menu > Apply for McGill Financial Aid and submitting a Mobility Award application. There is no need to make an appointment for an interview with a Student Aid Counselor. Your application will be assessed online, so it is very important to clearly and accurately include all relevant information.
