Morning walk

Wednesday, June 20, 7:00 - 8:00am

Start the day refreshed, with a walk up Mount Royal, a mountain known as the heart of Montreal, the city’s most cherished green space and symbol of the movement to conserve and enhance the environment. It houses more than 200,000 trees in the centre of the city and a habitat for a wide variety of plant and animal life: 65 tree species, 600 plant species, 180 bird species and 20 species of mammals. Meet on the steps of the Centre Mont Royal on Sherbrooke St.  There's no need to register; just show up.  This walk is of moderate difficulty. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if you like.

Lunch walk: Golden Square Mile

Wednesday, June 20, 1:15 - 2:00pm

Join us for a lunchtime walk of the Golden Square Mile. Once home to Canada's Anglophone, predominantly Scottish, upper class, this beautiful neighbourhood—named for the square mile it covered—is lined with gorgeous Victorian homes, leafy parks and trees and a plethora of architectural masterpieces which span the Medieval, Renaissance, Greek and Roman, Gothic and Germanic styles. Bounded by René-Lévesque Boulevard, Mount Royal Park, de la Côte-des-Neiges Road and University Street, the Golden Square Mile is now part of the Mount Royal Natural and Historical District. Afternoon walk: Atwater Market

Friday, June 22, 2:00 - 4:00pm

Join us for a gastronomical tour of one of our market places located on Montreal’s historic canal system, just a short metro (subway) ride away from the conference.  This is a perfect opportunity to buy souvenirs and bring a taste of Montreal back home with you.  The return trip can be made by metro, or we can choose to walk back along the Lachine canal.

Meet on the steps of the Centre Mont Royal on Sherbrooke St.  There's no need to register; just show up, and bring at least $3 for the metro ride each way (exact change is not required).  Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle if you like. Atwater Market

**If the walks are cancelled due to inclement weather, we will send a message on the online community site the morning of each walk.
