MLIS Librarianship courses

Required courses are offered every year. Some complementary and general elective courses are offered in alternate years. For course availability, refer to the MLIS course timetables or McGill's Minerva Dynamic Schedule. In Minerva, choose a term and select "GLIS - Library & Information Studies". Course additions and deletions are often mentioned in Minerva first before the university calendar or this website are updated.

MLIS students entering the 2014/2015 year are to complete MLIS stream course requirements as specified below.

General Electives

Students in the Librarianship specialization may choose up to 12 optional elective credits, approved by student's advisor, selected from the complementary courses of streams not chosen as the student's primary focus or from other 500- or 600-level courses; up to 6 credits may be from other Quebec universities.  Courses outside of the School or from another Quebec university must also be approved by the MLIS Program Director.
