Graduate Diploma courses

Graduate Diploma program students complete a 30-credit schedule of courses which includes a minimum of 1 required Graduate Diploma research course and 12-24 complementary courses chosen in consultation with the student's advisor.

Required - research course(s) - 6-18 credits

Graduate Diploma program students complete a minimum of 1 of the following Graduate Diploma research-oriented courses:

GLIS 695 Research Paper 1 6 Credits

GLIS 696D1 Research Paper 2 6 Credits

GLIS 696D2 Research Paper 2 6 Credits

Note: Courses with numbers ending in D1 and D2 are taught in two consecutive terms (most commonly in Fall and Winter) and designed to be taken over two terms. For credit to be given for D1 and D2 courses, students must register for and complete both components successfully in consecutive terms.

NB: All research proposals require approval.

Complementary - 12-24 credits

The remaining credits are chosen in consultation with the student's advisor from any other SIS courses with the exception of: GLIS 646, GLIS 647, GLIS 689, GLIS 694, GLIS 69

External Course Credit

Up to 15 credits may be taken outside the School in other McGill graduate programs that students are qualified to enter. Students may take no more than one-third of the course credits at another university. External courses are subject to prior approval of the student's advisor and the Director.
