In addition to resources listed on this page, an overview of technology in the Faculty is available at Technology in the Faculty of Education, including A/V loan services, installed classroom technologies, myCourses, and WiFi.

Working

  • IT Resources for Faculty & Staff Working from Home - Knowledge Base article.
  • The School has an administrative network drive. Professors are given access to some folders for administrative and advising purposes. Access is requested through Kathryn Hubbard or France Bouthillier.  More details on network mapping here: Mapping to a Network Drive - Knowledge Base article. [Specific instructions for mapping to the SIS drive are to come.)

Laptops

  • SIS sessional lecturer laptop loans are available for instruction purposes. For information contact Cathy Venetico.
  • McGill Academic Laptop/Tablet Program - subsidies for newly hired professors. Important note: Applications are submitted through the School, not through the form listed on the program page. Contact Susann Allnutt for more information.

IT Lab

The SIS/IT Education Graduate Student IT Lab is used for SIS teaching, labs, and special bookings. When not booked, the lab is open for use by SIS and Faculty of Education graduate-level students. View more information including schedule, reservations & policies on the IT lab page.

Note: The lab contains 24 computers, a projector, scanner, and printer/copier, among other equipment. It does not contain an instructor PC (you'll need to bring your own laptop or use one of those we have available for sessional lecturers), a CD, DVD, or VHS player. As well, the lab does not contain an external telephone line; the line is internal only.

Support

Access general IT support for SIS faculty and staff through McGill IT Services, or use the "ICS" icon on your computer destop to open a ticket. Note: support tickets opened through the desktop icon will be sent to the Faculty of Education IT services and will be addressed by Faculty staff or forwarded on to the main McGill IT Services as appropriate.
