Project title: Cell-in-alginate trap-array with sequential antibody delivery for multiplex immunoassays on single-cells

Project description (50-100 words suggested): In this project we would like to design and implement a trap-array for cells which may be used for multiplex immunoassays on live, isolated CTCs. The platform could allow the CTC team to find proteomic and structural differences from captured vs non-captured spiked living CTCs, and possibly find new biomarkers which could help their capture. The basic premise being: CTCs are co-encapsulated with capture-beads in an alginate-in-oil droplet and arrayed on a microfluidic chip similar to the designed developed by Tan et al. [1]. Then, labeled-dAbs are delivered sequentially to the cells. Using only one fluorophore, multiplex immunoassays may be performed on live cells based on time-discrimination.

Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.

Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): 50% final report, 25% lab grade, 25% oral presentation
