Project title: Paleoenvironmental change on the shore of PEI
Project description (50-100 words suggested): Our lab has a sediment core retrieved from a salt marsh on PEI that we suspect reflects both regressive and transgressive episodes and may include a deposit formed in a terrestrial ecosystem. The student will conduct a palynological analysis to determine what depositional environments are represented in the core.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final report 50%, lab work 50%
Other project information: This project requires ability to identify pollen and willingness to devote many hours to microscopic analyses.
Project status: This project is taken; however students may contact the professor to discuss other possible '396' projects this term.
