Project title: Drugs to sensitize cancer cells to radiotherapy

Project description (50-100 words suggested): Multiple doses of ionizing radiations will be applied on two cell lines (probably MCF7 and Hs578T). Cells will be counted on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. This experiment will serve to determine the dose needed to kill 20 to 50% of cells. The following weeks, you will repeat the irradiation procedure in the presence of increasing concentrations of various azole compounds to verify whether whether this increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to radiotherapy. These experiments will be carried in 96-well plates and cell viability will be assessed by measuring thymidine incorporation on day 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.

Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report (minimum 10 pages) graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%)

Project status: This project is taken. The professor has no more '396' projects this term.
