Project title: Using genetic screens to study drug resistance to cancer therapies
Project description (50-100 words suggested): Using high-throughput RNA interference (RNAi) loss-of-function genetic screens, we aim to uncover novel genes that modulate drug responses to targeted cancer therapeutics. Identified candidates will be validated in multiple cancer relevant systems (cell culture). The goal is to use complementary genetic and biochemical approaches to dissect the mechanism of action and to provide potential treatment strategies to overcome drug resistance.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report (minimum 10 pages) graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator
