Project title: Distribution of Elastic Fibers in the Heart: Influence of Fibulin-4 Levels
Project description: The project will involve the localization of elastin and elastic fiber-related proteins in the hearts of mice expressing various levels of fibulin-4. Preliminary data suggests abnormal elastic fiber assembly/distribution in the heart when the expression of fibulin-4 is altered. Hearts will be collected at different developmental ages from wildtype and fibulin-4 mutant mice. Elastin, fibrillin and other proteins that are critical for elastic fiber assembly will be investigated.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade):Final Report 50%; Presentation to Lab Group 25%; Research Skill/Effort 25%.
