Project title: T follicular helper cell differentiation following infection
Project description (50-100 words suggested): CD4+ T follicular helper (Tfh) cells play a critical role in generating protective antibody responses following infection by directing interacting with pathogen-specific B cells. Using mouse models of infection to interrogate T-dependent humoral immune responses during intestinal parasite infection, the student will not only gain experience using a number of in vitro and in vivo experimental assays to test specific hypotheses regarding Tfh cell differentiation and function, but also increase her fund of knowledge regarding general principles of cellular immunology.
Prerequisite: 1 term completed at McGill + CGPA of 3.0 or higher; or permission of instructor.
Grading scheme (The final report must be worth at least 50% of final grade): Final grade shall be based on laboratory performance as evaluated by the research supervisor (50%) and the final written research report (minimum 10 pages) graded by the supervisor and the course coordinator or the coordinator's delegate (50%).
