Campaign McGill

Campaign McGill seeks to raise $750-million toward the University’s top academic priorities. These goals will allow the McGill community build on its legacy of excellence and achieve its ambitious objectives: advance health, build prosperity, create the next generation of science and technology, protect the environment, and strengthen culture and civil society.

McGill’s Faculty of Science has a nearly 200-year tradition of discovery and innovation that no other Canadian university, and only a handful of U.S. schools can match. Our long tradition of scientific leadership, and the illustrious roster of McGill researchers who changed the world—Sir Ernest Rutherford, Frederick Soddy, Ronald Melzak, Jack Szostak, Willard Boyle, Bernard Belleau and Vicky Kaspi, to name only a few—are key attributes.

The Faculty of Science’s roots are not only strong, but they display a deep commitment to excellence. Our strengths, however, must be properly nurtured. Whether it’s studying human and ecological health through the mechanics of the cell in our Quantitative Biology program to making industrial processes cleaner through Green Chemistry, the Faculty is hard at work in making the world a better place.

As great as its history has been, the Faculty is today at the cusp of even greater things. The Faculty has assembled the best minds ever at a Canadian university. We must put to good use the talent these brilliant researchers and academics bring to us. Support for the work they do is crucial, particularly in this era of Big Science and multidisciplinary research. We are now at the brink of more great breakthroughs, and must seize the opportunity while we have the chance. McGill’s scientists are asking questions—the world is about to change.
