He got game: basketball's inventor was Physical Education honours student at McGill

Dr. James Naismith is acclaimed as the inventor of basketball. Born in 1861 near Almonte, Ontario, Naismith studied physical education at McGill, "completing his BA with honours in Physical Education in 1888," according to a recent McGill Tribune article on the subject.

Jet lag can’t slow McGill’s Daoust (B.Ed. Physical Education)

You can excuse Mélodie Daoust if she may a little tired these days.

On Thursday, Jan. 7 (Daoust’s 24th birthday), she was in Füssen, Germany, lacing up her skates as part of the Canadian national development team in the gold-medal game against Finland at the Nations Cup.

Dr. Julie Côté appointed Chair of Kinesiology and Physical Education Department (KPE)

Dean Dilson Rassier is pleased to announce that Dr. Julie Côté has been appointed as Chair of our Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education.

Dr. Côté received her PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the Physiology Department with the Université de Montréal, and her Master's in Science with the University of Wisconsin's Kinesiology Department.
