Jamie Kompon (BEd 1989) to coach for Canada at 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge

CALGARY, Alta. -- Hockey Canada announced Wednesday that Jamie Kompon (BEd (PE) 1989), a McGill University graduate from Thunder Bay, Ont., is among three head coaches named to lead the three Canadian teams at the 2015 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in August.

New Director @ Musée Redpath Museum

The Redpath Museum is pleased to announce that Professor Hans Larsson has been appointed Director for a five year term, commencing 1 June, 2015. Professor Larsson has been a member of the Museum’s faculty since 2003 and is well prepared to face the challenges of integrating new appointees into academic life and furthering the Museum's unique mission at the university. Professor Larsson’s research specialty is Vertebrate Paleontology. The Redpath Museum thanks out-going Director, Professor David M. Green, for his ten years of committed administrative service.

Education graduates celebrate Spring Convocation 2015

On May 29th, close to 450 Faculty of Education students walked across the stage to receive their degree at the convocation ceremony held on McGill’s main campus. The Hon. Michael A. Meighen, Chancellor of McGill, opened the ceremonial proceedings with the colourful customary procession led by piper Jeff McCarthy.  The convocation tent was filled to capacity with proud family members cheering on the graduates as they were ‘capped’ by Principal, Suzanne Fortier, before receiving their academic degree.

New Dean of Science

Congratulations to Professor Bruce Lennox who will become the new Dean of the Faculty of Science, effective July 1, 2015. He is currently Tomlinson Professor of Chemistry, a former chair of the Department of Chemistry, and a leading nanoscientist. He will succeed Professor Martin Grant, who is finishing his second term as Dean of Science. More information.
